Problems with parties in Observatory

Is this happening only with the Observatory, or is this also happening with other party locations?

AFAIK only the Observatory, but I've only been on 7 Seas a couple of weeks.  I went to one successful party in the Ship's Lounge and the rest have all been in the hosts' cabins...no problem with any of those.

Thanks so much for letting us know. We'll take a look into the parties in the Observatory.

Now that I've been on 7 Seas for a couple of months, I think I have some insight into the Observatory problem.  The same problem is happening with any party that's being held in a room that isn't someone's personal cabin.  It appears to have to do with people going early to the party, before it stars.  Evidently when you go early, the system can't recognize which party you're trying to attend when it's not in someone's cabin, since you can only get there early by going directly to the room.  So the people that go early end up in one room, and those who come in through the party listing end up in a different one.  At least that's the way it appears to me.

This happened to me recently in Paris.  I tried to host a party in the Paris party room (I forget the name).  Since I couldn't get in early through the party listing, I waited for the party to start and then clicked on it.  Only a couple of people were there.  As others trickled in, someone told me that a whole room had gone early and been waiting for me, and wondering why I never showed up.  I was very embarrassed and apologized to the few who were there and had also been in the other room.  The party started, but was not a great success, with little enthusiasm and didn't bust. Afterwards, friends told me it wasn't my fault, but I still felt awful that I had let down a whole roomful of partiers, many of whom were my personal friends.  Please work on fixing this, so we have a way when we go early to a party being held in a public room, that everyone can get to the same room.

I love having parties in the various public rooms, since they offer charms that you can't get anywhere else, plus they're usually spacious, which makes them a welcome treat from the body crush of cabin parties.  However, until this glitch is fixed, I don't plan on hosting any more parties anywhere other than in my cabins.

Do you know how players are going into the party room early? This can help us try to see where the issue occurs.

Hi, Samantha.  I've talked to some of my friends and also remembered some of my own experiences on the site, and I think I'm beginning to figure some stuff about this issue.  It's complicated, so this may be a bit long.  I've actually had experience working with programmers designing an app for my company, and I've seen first hand that there's no way they can think of all of the possible actions a user might take when they interact with a program, so they have to constantly correct after the fact.

First, I've just realized basically anywhere you go on the site is not a single place but divided into multiple "rooms". This must be because the software limits the number of people who can be in a room, just like with a party.  Last night, I found out there are multiple Ship's Decks.  I saw a friend was online, clicked Locate and it said she was in Ship's Deck.  I clicked on my Ship's Deck, but when I got there, but she wasn't there. I clicked Locate again, and this time clicked Join.  Then I was sent to a completely different Ship's Deck "room", with different people, and she was there.  I've also noticed  recently sometimes when I locate a friend it will say they're playing a certain slot or game, "In A Full Room".

So evidently as you go about the site, the software randomly places you in any "room" of the particular place, game or wherever you choose to be that's not full.  However, it doesn't know the specific "room" of that place you want to go to unless it has something to tell it, like using Locate/Join or clicking on Enter on the party calendar.  Even that doesn't always work correctly, though.

I remembered that when I had that messed up party in the room in Paris, I was trying to attend someone else's  party in the same room which started 1 1/2 hours BEFORE mine.  When I clicked Enter on the party calendar to go to this other party, the program took me to MY party room instead.  I knew it was my party, because it said "Rare Orchid's Sur de whatever (can't remember the exact room name) at the bottom of the screen.  First, I thought maybe I was going nuts or something and had let the time slip up on me, but then I realized it must be a glitch. I left and re-entered the party I wanted to go to, and this time I got to the correct "room".

I talked to several of my friends who had gone early to my messed up party, and they all said they had just gone directly to the party room, since you can't get to it through the party calendar until the party actually starts.  Then I and the people who entered through the calendar, once the party started, ended up in a totally different room.  This has got to be why many parties not held in people's cabins have such a difficult time getting enough players to start the party.  Even the people who think they are going early to a specific party may not all end up in the same "room", since the software has no way of knowing which one they're trying to go to.  This probably wasn't much of a problem when the site had fewer players, but there have been so many new people joining in the last six weeks and so many more parties that the problem is just going to continue to get worse.

This could probably be fixed by allowing people who want to go early to a party to click on the person's name in the party listing on the calendar, and then be given a choice to go to "Cabin" or "Party Room",

One of my friends said that lately they are sometimes ending up in an overflow party room, even though the main party room isn't filled up.  I've had that happen to me on CW, although not here.  In that case,I think it seems to have to do with people going to a party and leaving just after it starts, so the room could be full at one point, then have vacancies, which the software has no way to predict.

Hope this will help you guys figure out how to fix some of these issues.
